George to offer injured Said support

United States star Paul George plans to speak to gymnast Samir Ait Said after the Frenchman's horror leg break at the Rio Olympics.

Said, 26, broke his leg landing while performing on the vault on Saturday, sustaining a gruesome injury on day one of the Games.

The Indiana Pacers' George suffered a similar injury in 2014 while on duty with USA ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The 26-year-old said he would try his best to support Said in any way he could.

"At some point I'm going to go have a chat with him, I know what it's like going through it so hopefully, any words I can give will be useful to him," George said.

"I came back stronger and better for it. It's all about encouraging, keeping his head into it. For him, it's tough.

"Olympic gymnasts, their window is just as small as ours, he's probably been training his whole life for this opportunity, I'll definitely be in his corner."

George had 20 points in USA's latest win – a 113-69 thrashing of Venezuela on Monday.
