Former Akwa United star, Orok Akarandut says he was robbed of NFPL goalscoring record
Former Akwa United star, Orok Akarandut has insinuated that was robbed of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NFPL) goalscoring record in 2009.
The 28-year-old was then playing for Akwa United star and was on track to break the record of the most goals scored by a player in the NPFL.
Despite equalling the record of 17 goals with four matches to go, Akarandut was not able to create his own record.
In an interview with the Al Hidd striker coyly revealed that he was robbed of the goalscoring record.
"I'm not trying to raise another issue here but I actually scored a goal in the last game but it was dissallowed by the referee for offside," Akarandut said.
When asked if he thinks he was robbed, the striker said: "I will leave at that."
He however admitted that he felt so bad about not breaking the record.
"I felt so bad," he said.
"I was to leave Akwa United for my next club of Tunisia with about four games remaining to play in the league.
"But because of the record I decided that I was going to finish the season here in Nigeria, but unfortunately, I was not able to break it. "
