NFF-Adidas Partnership: Kit company denies contract extension

Pulse reported on Wednesday after a phone conversation with a top NFF official who said that the NFF had extended the already expired kit sponsorship deal it had with Adidas.

Adidas on Thursday responded that it is yet to communicate with the NFF President who was quoted in some media to say that the deal had been renewed.

In an email sent exclusively to Pulse, Adidas representative, Robert Lester wrote:

''It is not true that the contract has been extended.’’

Quoting a statement by Adidas spokesperson, he further wrote: “Adidas was surprised to hear the comments from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President as there has been no contact between adidas and the NFF. Our contract expired on December 31, 2014 and will not be extended. We wish the NFF all the best for the future.”

In the attempt to verify the authenticity in the divergent claims of the two parties, calls were put through to NFF’s head of communications, Ademola Olajire but his phones were switched off.
