Holy father meets with the Grand Imam of Egypt

In bid to heal the relationship between the Vatican and the Sunni Muslims, the Holy Father, Pope Francis met with the grand Imam of Egypt’s highest Islamic authority, Al-Azhar on Monday, May 23, 2016.

The mosque and the University center reportedly cut all contacts with the Vatican after Pope Benedict allegedly repeated insults toward Islam.

According to Reuters, the two men discussed the issues of violence, terrorism and the situation of Christians in the Middle East.
