Iran is now the first country to ban the most popular mobile game in the world
Iran is now officially the first country to officially ban Pokémon Go.
The BBC reports that the decision to ban the augmented reality mobile game was taken by the High Council of Virtual Spaces, the official body responsible for overseeing online activity.
The reason which was given for this move, according to an Innovation Village, was because of "security concerns" even though these concerns are unspecified.
In other related news, Indonesia has banned police officers from playing the game while on duty. A French player was also arrested last month after straying on to a military while playing the game and trying to catch some Pokémon.
According to an Engadget report from last week, the Pokémon Go game has now reached 100 million downloads worldwide, earning $10 million a day despite limited availability.
