Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been appointed into senior roles by two international companies.

Dr Okonjo-Iweala is now a Senior Advisor for Investment bank, Lazard and also the chair-elect of the board for GAVI the Vaccine Alliance.

GAVI is a prominent international organization which is focused on increasing access to immunization in poor countries around the world.

Lazard announced the former minister’s appointment via a press statement signed by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Kenneth M. Jacobs.

It reads in part:

“Dr. Okonjo-Iweala has built a remarkable international reputation over more than three decades in leadership positions in government and at the World Bank.She will be a strong addition as a Senior Advisor to our firm.”

On the GAVI appointment, Okonjo-Iweala said via Twitter:

“I’m excited to join GAVI to immunize 300 million more children in the next five years and save 5 million to 6 million more lives.”

GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, was founded by Bill and Melinda Gates in January 2000.
