Nigeria international Odion Ighalo was in top form, scoring a brace as Watfordin Sunday, December 20 Premier League fixture.

Nathan Ake on loan from Chelsea opened scoring for Watford with a third minute goal.

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan fumbled a corner which Ake pounced on to score Watford’s first.

Igahalo doubled the lead Watford after getting on a long pass from Troy Deeney to squeeze a shot from a tight angle, off the base of the far post.

An improved Liverpool side tried to come back in to the game with Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes in top form with some saves.

Ighalo remained a thorn in the flesh of the Liverpool defence, twice going close to complete his brace.

Bogdan made a splendid save on the second occasion, when Ighalo was clean through with a run at goal and seemed set to kill the game.

Liverpool poured everything forward in search of a way back into the game which allow Ighalo to score his second goal and Watford’s third.

The striker meat a cross with his head to seal win for Watford and to take his season tally to 12.
