The highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, officially announced today for December 11th, will be contested for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Championship, according to The Ring magazine.

In the WBA rankings, Fury is positioned at number two, with Joshua at number three.

The bout between Joshua and Fury is set to be incredibly lucrative, with both boxers earning substantial sums. A portion of these earnings will now go to the WBA in the form of sanctioning fees, following the organization's decision to reinstate the Super belt.

After Oleksandr Usyk vacated his titles in June, one of which was the WBA title, the sanctioning body briefly withdrew this status in the heavyweight division. Now, there will once again be two WBA champions in the division, provided the Joshua-Fury match does not end in a draw.

However, a rematch clause is not currently included in the contracts.

“No, not at the moment,” stated Frank Warren, Tyson Fury’s promoter, to TalkSport when asked if the contracts contained a rematch clause.
