Nikola Jokić, unlike most other famous athletes, isn't one for seaside vacations. As the world now knows, Jokić is deeply connected to his hometown and chooses to spend every free moment in Sombor. His father Branislav's equestrian club manages the local hippodrome, and Nikola has invested a significant amount of money into his own stud farm.
His godfather, Nebojša Vagić, shed light on what Jokić truly enjoys.
"When Nikola is in Sombor, besides socializing and caring for his horses, he enjoys recreational activities. He plays tennis, swims in the pool, goes fishing, and often visits his weekend house. We both love to cook homemade food; it means a lot to him to be surrounded by people he loves. He feels comfortable only in that environment," Vagić told "BSC Happy portal," as reported by sport.novi.ba.
"He dislikes any turbulent situations. In his free time, he loves to go rafting; we go to Tara every year. He adores nature, whether it's our Danube, the Tara River, or the mountains. These are activities he never skips, nothing spectacular. In short – good food, good people, horses."
Despite his global fame, Jokić finds the most joy in the environment where he grew up. He loves cycling, eating at bakeries, but his mother's specialties, especially one, are paramount. It's fish stew, which he has often said he misses most of all in Denver.
"I've eaten everything – cakes, stew, yellow soup with a bit more fat. Before every game, I eat something I shouldn't. Whether it's a slice of pizza, popcorn, just something unhealthy. For good luck," Jokić once said.
