In England

We start in England where Kelechi Iheanacho made his first start for Leicester City in their 1-1 draw away at Huddersfield on Saturday, September 16. The striker played for 69 minutes while his teammate and compatriot Wilfred Ndidi was on for 90 minutes

Nigerian international Ahmed Musa was not listed in Leicester City’s matchday squad.

Ola Aina played 90 minutes in Hull City’s 1-1 home draw with Sunderland in the Championship (English division 1)

On Sunday, September 17, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi clashed in the London Derby game between Chelsea and Arsenal.

Moses played 90 minutes while Iwobi went off for Arsenal in the 80th minute.

In Belgium

Nigerian stars Henry Onyekuru and Abduljeleel Ajagun both scored for Anderlecht and Kortrijk respectively in a league game played on Saturday, September 16.

Ajagun levelled for Kortrijk in the second half after the home side had gone behind in the 23rd minute. Onyekuru brought Anderlecht back on level terms after Kortrijk had gone 2-1 up to make the game finish 2-2.

Onyekuru netted the last goal of the game after coming on as a substitute while Ajagun was subbed off with six minutes left to play.

Taiwo Awoniyi netted Royal Excel Mouscron’s only goal in their 2-1 loss to Zulte-Waregem. Awoniyi put Royal Excel  Mouscron in the lead before Zulte-Waregem who had another Nigerian Peter Olayinka in their side came back from a goal down to win the game.

Super Eagles stars Moses Simon and Anderson Esiti played in Gent’s 2-0 win over Oostende FC who had Joseph Akpala on the bench.

In Denmark

Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu returned from a two-week injury lay-off to score in Midtjylland FC’s 5-1 thrashing of Hobro.

Onuachu came in the 64th minute to score Midtjylland FC’s fourth goal of the game. His Nigerian teammate also played in the game and grabbed an assist in the 61st minute.

In Spain

Nigerian striker Kayode Olanrewaju played 80 minutes for Girona in their 1-0 loss to Sevilla.

Former Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche netted for Gimnàstic de Tarragona in their home 3-1 win against Albacete in the Spanish second division.

That was Uche’s first league goal for Gimnastic in four appearances.

In Netherlands

Super Eagles right back Tyrone Ebuehi played all 90 minutes in ADO Den Haag’s 1-1 draw against Dutch giants Ajax in the Eredivisie.

Kelechi Nwakali was a 46th-minute substitute for VVV Venlo in their 1-1 draw with Vitesse.

In German

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun and his Mainz 05 teammates were on the end of a terrible beating from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich losing 4-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Victor Osimhen was on the bench all through as his side Wolfsburg lost 1-0 to Stuttgart.

In France

Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem made a return from suspension to play in Nantes’ 1-0 win over Caen.

In Turkey

Super Eagles defender William Troost Ekong opened his goal account for Turkish Super League side Bursaspor in their 4-2 away win to Malatyaspor.

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi came in the 86th of Trabzonspor’s 2-2 away draw at Istanbul Basaksehir.

Sadiq Umar was a second-half substitute for Osmanlispor FK in their 4-2 home loss to Sivasspor who had Super Eagles left-back Elderson Echiejile come in the 40th minute in the away win.

In Finland, Gbolahan Salami netted in KUPS FC 3-1 win over VPS FC. The Nigerian came on as a 76th-minute substitute to score his side’s second goal of the game.

Aron Samuel only made the bench in CSKA Moscow’s 2-0 win over FC Rostov in Russia.

In Austria, former Akwa United star Ibrahim Alhassan made his debut in his 90-minute appearance for Austrian giants FK Austria Wien in their 5-1 win over St. Poelten in the Austrian Bundesliga.
