IRB brings the 'Get Into Rugby' Programme To Nigeria

The International Rugby Board (IRB) has initiated a programme to educate and tutor children and new players who are interested in the game with the right and proper techniques needful for Rugby.

The ''Get into Rugby Programme (GIR)’’ is set to kick off the Nigerian phase which will involveTrained GIR Coaches who will be sent to schools to administer the program.

GIR is  a monumental part of the IRB initiative to grow the sport as it looks towards a wider audience and participation at the Rio 2016 Olympic games.

The theme of the initiative, TRY – PLAY – STAY’ in Rugby, is aimed at encouraging kids and new participants into the game with a target of recruiting and retaining new players, coaches and referees over the next four years.

IRB aims to promote the rugby and ensure children are encouraged to try rugby in safe and progressive way.

The Nigerian phase is under the charge of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) and it is already in 75 registered schools across the nation.
