Nigeria 2 Vs 1 Cape Verde: Super Eagles' players' rating in World Cup qualifier

The Super Eagles completed their two-game assignment in this international break with a 2-1 win away at Cape Verde in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier. 

The Super Eagles battled from a goal down to grind out the win to take control of Group C of the qualifiers with six points from two games. 

But how did the players fare in the game? 

Goalkeeper 

Maduka Okoye (4/10) 

Easily beaten at his near post for the Cape Verde goal. 

Defence 

Shehu Abdullahi (5/10)

Was caught out of position in the lead up to Cape Verde's goal. Redeemed himself a little with his good work for the rest of the game. Defended well and joined in the attack a couple of times. 

Kenneth Omeruo (5/10) 

Didn't have much to do but looked shaky the few times the Cape Verdeans asked questions of the Super Eagles defence. 

Chidozie Awaziem (6/10) 

One of Nigeria's best players on the day. Defended strongly all through the game. 

Jamilu Collins (6/10) 

Nothing specular for most of the game but was decisive in key moments. Put in the cross that led to the Super Eagles equaliser. 

Innocent Bonke (4/10) 

Saying he had an underwhelming debut would be too harsh. But he did nothing of note; he struggled initially but gets points for playing with his heart. 

Kingsley Michael (4/10) 

Same for Michael but can't really blame him too as the weight of a Super Eagles debut is usually heavy. 

Moses Simon (4/10) 

Struggled all through his time on the pitch. Could not get past his marker and put in terrible balls in the box. 

Ahmed Musa (4/10) 

Didn't do anything of note in his midfield role. 

Chidera Ejuke (6/10) 

Impressive 84-minute performance from the CSKA man. Was a threat all through from the left and forced the Cape Verde goalkeeper to a brilliant save in the first half. 

Victor Osimhen (7/10) 

He played his heart out as usual and scored the crucial equaliser. 

Substitutes 

Henry Onyekuru (2/10) 

He carried the ball well and gave him a good account of himself for 20 minutes. 

Terem Moffi 

There is no rating for him, but he charged well in the middle, forcing the Cape Verde player to make that long back pass that led to an own-goal.

The rest of the substitutes Paul Onuachu and Ziadu Sanusi didn't have enough time to impact the game.
