Blackhawks win in OT, Coyotes hold on in NHL
Jonathan Toews' overtime goal saw the Chicago Blackhawks to a 1-0 shutout win over the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL on Monday.
Toews made it back-to-back OT winners, having scored against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford made 39 saves at United Center and Toews delivered with his wrist shot 51 seconds into the additional period.
It was the fifth time in eight games the struggling Ducks have been shut out this season, while reigning Stanley Cup champions the Blackhawks improved to 6-3-0.
In Toronto, the Arizona Coyotes held on for a 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Goals from Max Domi, Shane Doan, Klas Dahlbeck and Kyle Chipchura had the Coyotes in control early in the third period.
But James van Riemsdyk and Morgan Rielly made for a nervous finish, only for the Coyotes to hold on.
The Maple Leafs have just one win this season, while the Coyotes' victory was their fifth as they moved top of the Pacific Division.
Jaroslav Halak made 29 saves for the New York Islanders, who claimed a 4-0 win over the Calgary Flames.
