Dan Bailey sees Cowboys past Redskins in NFL
Dan Bailey kicked a 54-yard field goal late in the game at FedEx Field on Monday as the Cowboys improved to 4-8 in the NFC East.
The Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants are all 5-7.
Both quarterbacks struggled as the Redskins' Kirk Cousins had 219 yards and a touchdown, while Matt Cassel finished with 222 yards on 16 of 29 passing.
Cowboys tight end Jason Witten became the 12th player in NFL history to catch 1,000 passes and joined Tony Gonzalez as the only tight ends with 1,000 receptions.
Witten finished the game with five catches for 45 yards and his second-quarter catch set up a 38-yard Bailey field goal to give the Cowboys a 3-0 lead.
The Redskins tied it with a 44-yard Dustin Hopkins field goal as the first half expired.
Hopkins and Bailey again traded field goals in the third and fourth quarters before Darren McFadden's touchdown on a six-yard run.
Cousins' 28-yard pass for DeSean Jackson led to the game-tying touchdown, but Bailey delivered with the field goal.
