Medić is set to compete in a legendary arena, and his opponent has been revealed: Kevin Holland, a recognizable name in the UFC octagon.
News of this clash broke during the UFC 331 event. Medić, also known as "The Doctor," enters this bout on a wave of excellent form, following an impressive victory over Daniel Rodriguez that electrified the Belgrade Arena at a recent UFC Fight Night.
Although the Serbian fighter, currently ranked 10th in the welterweight division, openly called out champion Leon Edwards and Carlos Prates after his triumph in Belgrade, UFC officials had different plans. Despite Holland being lower ranked (14th position), he is an extremely dangerous and experienced 33-year-old American fighter with a rich record of 29 wins and 15 losses.
This showdown is scheduled for November 14th as part of the milestone UFC 334 event.
Who is Uroš Medić?
We last saw Uroš Medić in the main event of the UFC tournament in Belgrade, where he defeated Daniel Rodriguez by knockout in just 30 seconds. The Serbian fighter thus fulfilled the promise he made at the weigh-in before the tournament, stating he would "put his opponent to sleep" in the first round.
After the fight, Medić was overcome with emotion, addressing the audience in the Belgrade Arena on the verge of tears. He spoke about leaving Serbia, how much he missed home during all those years of "wandering" in Alaska, and how all the sacrifices he made were finally gaining meaning.
Serbian UFC fighter Uroš Medić has a very compelling life and sports story.
Born in Budisava near Novi Sad, Medić embarked on a journey to Alaska over 10 years ago, determined to achieve his biggest dream of becoming a successful UFC fighter. He signed a contract with the prestigious organization in the summer of 2020, making that year particularly special for him. In Dana White's 27th "Contender Series," Medić defeated Mikey Gonzalez in the first round, becoming the first Serbian fighter in the UFC's lightweight division.
He defeated his opponent by technical knockout in the first round, with a combination of a straight punch to the face and a low kick proving enough to impress the organization's head. "Wow, this guy is undoubtedly the star of the night! He's explosive, full of energy, a dangerous guy with a perfect record. He's everything I look for in a fighter. Welcome to the UFC," White declared at the time.
