Spain's new world champions have landed on home soil. Luis de la Fuente's team, along with the World Cup trophy, arrived at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport in the Spanish capital on a flight from New York.
The team members were greeted on the tarmac by a bus emblazoned with the message "Congratulations, Champions." La Roja's captain, Rodri, and the national team coach proudly displayed the cup on home ground. The squad then headed to a hotel in Madrid for a brief rest and to finalize preparations for a busy day of official receptions and celebrations.
A massive championship parade is scheduled for this evening in Madrid to celebrate the country's second World Cup title. Hundreds of thousands are expected to line the streets of the Spanish capital to accompany the new world champions on a route culminating at Plaza de Cibeles, the central hub for the festivities. The Spanish national team will tour Madrid in an open-top bus, showcasing the trophy to the fans gathered along the way.
The official celebrations will begin at 6:30 PM Bulgarian time, when "La Roja" will be received by the Royal Family at the Zarzuela Palace. King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, accompanied by Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, will be in attendance. The team will then proceed to the Moncloa Palace to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The championship parade through central Madrid via open-top bus is set to start around 8:00 PM.
The procession will pass through some of the capital's most iconic locations before concluding at Plaza de Cibeles, where the main celebration event will take place.
The planned route will start from Moncloa and continue along Calle de la Princesa, Calle de Alberto Aguilera, Calle de Carranza, Calle de Sagasta, and Calle de Génova (against the usual flow of traffic). It will then pass through Calle de Jorge Juan, Calle de Goya, and Calle de Serrano, cross Plaza de la Independencia and Puerta de Alcalá, before proceeding along Calle de Alfonso XII to Calle de Montalbán.
Additionally, starting from 7:00 PM, a stage set up next to the Palace of Communications at Plaza de Cibeles will feature a rich program of music, entertainment, and performances. This will keep the crowd entertained while they await the arrival of the players and coaching staff, expected around 10:00 PM. According to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the event will feature top-tier DJs, famous artists, and many surprises.
