Regulator cautions against illegal use of telecom facilities

The Nigerian Communications Commission has implored telecoms subscribers to ensure that telecoms facilities are only used legitimately.

The call was made by Abdullahi Maikano, Director of Consumer Affairs at the NCC, at the 19th edition of the Consumer Town Hall meeting, which took place in Sagamu, Ogun State.

Represented by his deputy, Mr. Femi Atoyebi, Maikano urged consumers to use their telecom gadgets for correct, legitimate transactions only.

According to Maikano, consumers need to protect telecoms infrastructures in their neighborhood by alerting the Police to cases of vandalism.

Maikano also stated that subscribers should they their rights which include the right to be informed and the right to quality of service, amongst any others.

Abdullahi Muhammad, Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Sagamu, Ogun State, also advised consumers against making phone calls whilst driving.

Research shows that mobile phone usage while driving is one of the leading causes of road accidents.
