Ekweremadu was re-elected into the position today, June 9, 2015, during the inauguration of the 8th Senate in Abuja.

Nigerian Senator, Ike Ekweremadu will be retaining his position as Deputy Senate President.

He contested alongside Senator Ali Ndume of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and emerged victorious.

Ekweremadu will serve as Deputy to newly-elected Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
