Kevin Harvick looked on track to win the Sylvania 300 until he ran out of fuel at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, handing victory to Matt Kenseth.
After leading for most of the race, fuel issues for Harvick opened the door for Kenseth to take the lead on the 298th lap of 300 in Loudon.
Kenseth joined Joe Gibbs Racing team-mate Denny Hamlin as an automatic qualifier for the Chase for the Sprint Cup contender round.
Hamlin finished second, 8.941 seconds behind Kenseth.
Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards rounded out the top five.
With Harvick gambling on fuel, Kenseth pitted on lap 239 to load up a move that paid off in the end.
Kenseth leads the overall standings with 2099 points, six ahead of Hamlin, while Edwards (2089) is equal third with Logano.
Jimmie Johnson completes the top five in the standings with one race left in the Chase for the Sprint Cup's challenger round.
