Bayern Munich's German internationals, led by national team captain Joshua Kimmich, kicked off their pre-season preparations with medical examinations alongside other players who participated in the World Cup in North America this summer.
The players will then join coach Vincent Kompany's squad at a training camp in Bavaria, which also began on Monday and precedes a trip to South Korea and Hong Kong starting this Saturday.
Bundesliga internationals Kimmich, Manuel Neuer, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Jonathan Tah, and Jonas Urbig have rejoined the champion Bayern squad almost a month after Germany's elimination in the Round of 16 by Paraguay at the World Cup. New signing Nathanael Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt also linked up with his new teammates. Other World Cup participants returning include Japan's Hiroki Ito, South Korea's Kim Min-jae, Canada captain Alphonso Davies, and Senegalese teenager Bara Ndiaye.
The 18-year-old midfielder Ndiaye will receive a full contract after an initial loan spell from Gambinus Stars Africa and will take the place of the departed Leon Goretzka in the squad. Ndiaye has already featured in four Bundesliga matches.
Konrad Laimer from Austria, Luis Diaz from Colombia, and Croatian Josip Stanišić are set to join the team for the Asian tour from August 1st to 8th.
England captain Harry Kane and French duo Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano will only return after this trip, as their respective national teams remained in the World Cup until the very end, playing each other in the third-place match just over a week ago. The same applies to German player Jamal Musiala, who had a metal plate removed from his ankle after the World Cup.
Bayern will kick off their season with the German Supercup match against Borussia Dortmund on August 22nd, with their first Bundesliga fixture scheduled six days later against Stuttgart.
