Morocco Confident Ahead of Quarter-Final Clash Against France: 'Mbappé in Tears'

"It's going to be an incredibly tough challenge," Boussaboun begins in an interview with Sportnieuws.nl. "They are one of the favorites for the World Cup. The depth of their squad is ridiculous, and their attacking prowess is unparalleled. They have three potential Ballon d'Or winners in their ranks, which speaks volumes. At the back, they boast a world-class central defensive pairing. It's truly a formidable team."

Nevertheless, the former player for clubs including ADO, NAC, Feyenoord, and FC Utrecht sees opportunities for Morocco. "It's not impossible, but you'll need to be exceptionally strong and almost perfect to get a result. I believe Morocco is capable of that."

Boussaboun already celebrated a little after the victories over the Netherlands and Canada, but if they manage to beat France, the celebrations will be off the charts. "Then I'll be unreachable for days," he laughs. "All the honking you hear will be from me!"

The former footballer, born in Tangier, is impressed with Morocco and has high expectations for the country's future. "I've said it before: Morocco has arrived. They consistently prove themselves and belong among the top ten nations in the world. I am incredibly proud of that. Morocco brings so much joy and has truly created a feel-good factor in Qatar. It genuinely makes me happy to see the young talent in the squad. That bodes well for the future of Moroccan football. I'm not exaggerating when I say they can contend for the World Cup title in upcoming tournaments."

Finally, Boussaboun is asked for a prediction for Thursday's match. "If I let my imagination run wild, they'll shut everything down and beat France 3-0. Mbappé will leave the field in tears. But if I'm realistic, I think Morocco will be very resilient and defend well. It will be a draw, and they'll win again after penalties. That way, they'll get revenge for the 2022 semi-final," he concludes.
