The monthly subscriber data report, was released recently on the website of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The report reveals that the number of unused SIM- Subscriber Identity Module cards, rose from 50.6 million to 51.5 million in the month of  April.

Also, Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) operators, were hit hard, as they lost a whooping 359,190 users, bringing them down to only 2.03 million customers from the previous 2.3 million users.

Fixed wired and wireless operators also shared from the bounty, as they experienced an increase from 368,016 in February to 371,978 in the month of April.

The teledensity also increased from 101.85 in February to 103.91in April.

Teledensity is the number of telephone connections for every hundred individuals living within an area-wikipedia.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says 'Teledensity is calculated based on a national population of 140 million.According 2006 Last Census Population Figures.'

One interesting trend is that the number of Nigerians on the GSM- Global System for Mobile communication and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) networks.
