Monaco announced on Tuesday the signing of Flávio Nazinho from Cercle Brugge. The 22-year-old Portuguese left-back has penned a four-year deal, committing him to the Monegasque club until June 30, 2030.
Following a successful stint in Belgian football, Nazinho now makes the leap to the French league. Last season, with Cercle Brugge, the defender featured in 32 matches, scoring three goals and providing eight assists, standing out for his consistency and offensive contributions.
Hailing from Almada, Flávio Nazinho developed his skills at Monte Caparica AC, Leão Altivo, Cova da Piedade, and Pescadores, before moving north to join SC Braga. He then transferred to Sporting to complete his youth career.
It was with Sporting that he signed his first professional contract in 2021, making his senior team debut under then-coach Ruben Amorim on November 24, 2021, in a UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.
The full-back's career gained new momentum in Belgium, where he moved on loan to Cercle Brugge in 2023. In his first season, he helped the club achieve a 4th-place finish in the league, their best since 2006/2007, securing qualification for European competitions. His strong performances led Cercle Brugge to acquire him permanently in the summer of 2024 for €2 million.
Since arriving in Belgium, the full-back has played 94 games, scoring six goals and assisting 16.
According to international reports, Flávio Nazinho's transfer to Monaco was finalized for five million euros. When he made his permanent move to the Belgian club in 2024/2025, it was agreed between Sporting and Cercle that the Lions would be entitled to a percentage of any future transfer, which now earns them an additional one million euros.
