Emenalo has been at Chelsea since 2007 when he joined as an opposition scout before working his way up to become one of the most powerful men at the club.

These are five things you should know about him.

1. He played for Enugu Rangers

Many Chelsea fans in Nigeria do not know that Emenalo started his football career with Enugu Rangers in the early 80s as a replacement for Christian Chukwu.

2. He chose football over law

A year after playing for Enugu Rangers, he travelled to the United States of America where he was given an option to study law or play football at the Boston University. He chose football

3. International career

He played for the Super Eagles 14 times. He was with the Super Eagles squad at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States and played against Argentina and Greece.

4. Club career

Emenalo played in six countries including Nigeria in his football career. He played in USA, England, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Israel.

5. Chelsea career

Emenalo joined Chelsea in 2007 after he was offered the job as the chief opposition scout by Avram Grant. Grant was Emenalo’s manager at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

He was later appointed as the assistant manager to Carlo Ancelotti before he moved upstairs to become technical director.
