Co-hosts Mexico are set to face Ecuador in a Round of 16 clash at the World Cup. The match, held at the legendary Azteca Stadium, kicks off at 4:00 AM Bulgarian time and will be officiated by Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić.
The game will be streamed online at bnt.sportal.bg. The platform will broadcast all 104 matches from the 2026 World Cup schedule live.
Mexico stands as one of three teams, alongside the previous tournament's finalists Argentina and France, to have won all three of their group stage matches. Javier Aguirre's squad began their campaign with a 2-0 victory over South Africa, followed by a 1-0 win against South Korea, and an even more convincing 3-0 triumph over the Czech Republic.
Ecuador's path to the Round of 16 was considerably more challenging. "La Tri" suffered a dramatic 1-0 loss to Ivory Coast and could only manage a goalless draw against debutants Curaçao in their second fixture. However, Sebastian Beccacece's men showcased their true potential against Germany, coming from behind to secure a 2-1 victory. Their four points proved sufficient to advance to the knockout stage.
