Spaniard Vallverdu was part of Andy Murray's coaching set-up until the Scot announced a shake-up of his team last month.

Vallverdu, a long-term hitting partner for Murray, has now been handed the role of coaching Berdych and he will be assisted by Azuz Simcich.

Berdych had been keen to hire compatriot Ivan Lendl, but the eight-time grand slam winner has opted against resuming his coaching career for the time being following his split from working with Murray in March.

And 2010 Wimbledon runner-up Berdych has now turned to Vallverdu and Simcich to replace Tomas Krupa and David Vydra for the 2015 season.

Berdych tweeted: "Dear fans my new coach for 2015 will be Danny Vallverdu and Azuz Simcich.Thank you to Tomas Krupa and David Vydra for great time together!"
