Golden State Warriors power forward to miss one week with strained calf
Marreese Speights is set to miss a week with a moderate right calf strain, putting him in doubt for the rest of the Golden State Warriors' Western Conference semi-final series.
The Warriors announced on Sunday that an MRI had revealed the extent of Speights' injury and Golden State ruled the 27-year-old out for games four, five and six against the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA play-offs.
Even if the best-of-seven series goes the distance, the decider on May 17 may still be too soon for Speights.
Speights initially suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Warriors' game three loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday.
The power forward recorded nine points, including six in 41 seconds, before injuring his calf.
Speights averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 76 games during the regular season.
Golden State will host Memphis for game four on Monday, with the Grizzlies leading the series 2-1.
