Man City and Rodri Contract Talks Stalled

Manchester City tabled a new contract offer to Rodri over two months ago, but the two parties have yet to reach an agreement, leading to a halt in negotiations, according to numerous English media outlets and Fabrizio Romano. Concerns are mounting at the Etihad that the Spaniard could leave on a free transfer next year when his current deal expires. However, the player himself has stated he will postpone any decision until after the World Cup.

“I understand this is part of the game, but I haven't even thought about my future right now. My focus is entirely on the World Cup. I have a contract with Manchester City,” Rodri recently declared. The midfielder, who won the Ballon d'Or as a City player in 2024, has been consistently plagued by injuries for over a year.

“Manchester City made a new contract proposal to Rodri a few months ago, but the two sides have not yet reached an agreement. Everything is on hold at the moment, but there is still time as the player's current contract expires in 2027,” Romano stated. The player had been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the Santiago Bernabéu club has dismissed such speculation in recent weeks.
