Patoranking wins 'Song of the year'

Patoranking wins Song of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) 2016.

The 'Alubarika' singer snatched up the award beating 'Reggae blues' by Harrysong, Olamide's 'Shakiti bobo', SA rapper Emtee's 'Roll up Re up' featuring Wizkid and AKA, Korede Bello's 'Godwin', DJ Maphorisa's 'Soweto baby' featuring Wizkid, and Sauti Sol's 'Unconditionally bae' featuring Alikiba.

The award which held on the night of Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg, South Africa, witnessed other artistes emerge winners across various categories.

These include Wizkid who was decorated with three awards ('Best Male Artist', 'Artist of the Year, and Best Collaboration), Tekno (Best Breakthrough Act), Patoranking's 'My Woman, My Everything'  featuring Wande Coal (Song of The Year) Cassper Nyovest (Best Live Act), (Best Group), Drake (Best International Act), Emtee (Best Hip hop act), among others.

Patoranking who broke into the limelight with the song 'Alubarika' featuring Timaya released his debut album  "God Over Everything" in August 2016, to critical acclaim.

The reggae dancehall act has since been on a steady upwards trajectory, winning a number of awards at the Headies 2014 including Next Rated Act, Best Collaboration for 'Emergency'featuring Runtown, Skales and Best Reggae/Dancehall single for 'Girlie O' remix featuring Tiwa Savage.
