Maldini Wastes No Time: Guardiola Offered Italy Job

New Italian Football Federation technical director Paolo Maldini and his advisor Leonardo have reportedly made their first move regarding the possibility of Josep Guardiola taking over the national team, according to Sky Sports.

Reports indicate that the two Italian football executives traveled to Barcelona last weekend to meet with Guardiola, intending to offer him the vacant Italy head coach position. It remains unclear whether the former Manchester City manager is prepared to take charge of the four-time world champions, who missed their third consecutive World Cup. Other names being discussed as potential successors to Gennaro Gattuso, who departed in the spring, include Roberto Mancini, who led the team to triumph at Euro 2020, and the young specialist Andrea Pirlo.
