On Saturday, on Court One, Cobolli, the seventh seed, staged a dramatic comeback against Karen Khachanov, winning 3-2 after being a set down. To mark his triumph, the Italian recreated the Brazilian forward's famous surf celebration.

When asked about the reason, Cobolli explained that the idea came about while watching the 2026 World Cup with his coach. "It was a bet with my coach. We were watching the World Cup, and this is the Brazilian forward [Cunha] I like to imitate," he revealed.

Wimbledon's official Instagram account shared a video of the moment, to which Matheus Cunha himself responded: "I love that, Cobolli." In turn, the tennis player posted: "Into the second week... Cunha style..."

Cunha himself has previously explained the origin of his characteristic celebration, linking it to his passion for surfing. "Surfing has become an important part of my life. To bring that into football and show everyone how happy I am playing football and surfing, I have to do it," he stated.

Meanwhile, Flavio Cobolli's journey at Wimbledon continues. The Italian, who has already eliminated Mariano Navone and James Duckworth, will face fifth seed Alex de Minaur in the round of 16 this Monday.
