Liverpool Contacted Real Madrid to Inquire About Xabi Alonso's Tenure

Despite English media confidently asserting in recent weeks that Arne Slot will remain at Liverpool next season, rumors of a potential Xabi Alonso appointment continue to circulate. According to “AS,” the Merseyside club's management has yet to make a final decision on who will lead the team next season. Liverpool fans would welcome Alonso with open arms, and he also has other supporters at Anfield. However, the management of the 20-time English champions wants to understand why the Spaniard failed at Real Madrid and was dismissed in January. To get firsthand details, Anfield officials have directly contacted Real Madrid's management.

“AS” reports that good relations still exist between the two clubs, unaffected by Trent Alexander-Arnold's transfer. Therefore, Liverpool's inquiry was not perceived as sensational.

Chelsea has also shown interest in Xabi Alonso, with Stamford Bridge already having contacted his agents. According to some reports, the Spaniard's representatives have informed Liverpool of this development, emphasizing that his first choice, for now, remains a return to Anfield.

While Slot may have the backing of Liverpool's management, the match against Chelsea clearly showed that he has largely lost the trust of the public. This could alter the Dutchman's situation after the season concludes.
