German international Jamie Leweling has vowed to sport the iconic triangular haircut popularized by Brazilian football legend Ronaldo in 2002. This promise comes after the midfielder updated his social media profile picture with an AI-generated image featuring him with the former world champion's distinctive hairstyle.
Ronaldo, who famously wore the haircut during Brazil's triumphant 2002 World Cup campaign, sent Leweling a signed Brazil jersey after learning about the German's edited profile photo.
“You saw that I changed my profile picture . . . with Ronaldo's haircut. It was a bit of fun, but it attracted so much attention that the real Ronaldo sent me a jersey. A Brazilian reporter gave it to me,” Leweling stated at a press conference, holding up the signed Brazil shirt.
He then pledged to emulate the two-time world champion if Germany were to win the World Cup.
“There are still a few matches until the final, but if we win, I will get that haircut. That is my promise to Germany,” Leweling added, as quoted by Reuters.
