Leandro Paredes' Wife Defends Him After World Cup Scuffle: "For Us, You'll Always Be a Champion"
The Argentine midfielder lost his temper after the final defeat to Spain (0-1 after extra time), clashing with Eric Garcia and physically assaulting Gavi. Although everyone initially expected referee Slavko Vinčič to issue a red card, it ultimately didn't happen.
No Apology Yet
On social media, Leandro Paredes focused on thanking fans and his national team teammates. However, he has yet to publicly regret his behavior after the final whistle.
"Thank you, Argentina, I love you now and forever. Today I write with great sadness in my soul because we couldn't bring the joy our country so deserves, but with a heart full of pride that we gave it our all and once again raised our flag to the top!" the 32-year-old footballer shared on Instagram, without mentioning a word about the incident, which is now under FIFA investigation.
Surprising Message from His Wife
The footballer had previously been defended by his sister, and now his wife has joined in. Camila Galante wrote a letter full of loving words to her husband, praising Argentina's achievements and Paredes' contribution to the national team.
"Two of our children are already grown and understand. You have no idea how proud they are when they talk about you. They look at you with eyes full of admiration, eagerly awaiting every match to cheer you on, and then run into your arms, no matter where in the world it is.
They know a father who fights for his dreams, who never stops believing and never gives up. They saw how you represented the entire country with passion and heart, how you defended our colors," stated the wife of the Boca Juniors captain.

"You are amazing, my dearest. But for us, you don't need a trophy to be great. Your greatness lies in the values you pass on to us, in the example you set, in the person you are when you're home. And only those who truly know you understand that.
Because everyone can admire Leandro, the footballer, but we, who are lucky enough to know you, admire you much more as a person. For us, you will always be a champion," Camila Galante added in her social media post.
