Sergio Carranza, the head of La Liga's television broadcasts who previously spent five years working for Real Madrid TV, has clarified the lack of replays during controversial moments in the match between Real Madrid and Sevilla in round nine of the championship. He addressed the issue on the "El Partidazo" show on Cadena COPE radio.

Regarding the incident involving an alleged elbow from Arda Güler on Peque, Carranza admitted the situation could have been shown in greater detail: "We could have opted to show that replay, but at that moment we chose not to and focused on the goal instead. The incident wasn't under review, there were no significant protests, so we considered the matter closed. The referee ruled there was no foul, and we continued with the live broadcast."

The broadcast director strongly defended his team, stating that decisions are made autonomously inside the production truck. "That was an editorial call made by the team on site. It is crucial to emphasize that we work under absolutely no pressure and have complete freedom of action. We receive no directives on what to show or hold back. Everyone is simply striving to do the best job possible. People may have personal club loyalties, but they leave their fandom at the door."

Addressing the potential foul in the buildup to one of Mbappé's goals, Carranza explained that directors always aim to provide the best angles without unnecessarily interrupting the live broadcast. "Our priority is to maintain the live flow of the match and minimize interruptions with replays. Since the referee played advantage and a goal followed, we stayed with the action leading to Mbappé's strike. Had VAR paused the match for a review, we would have immediately tracked down and aired the required footage."
