According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the 2027/28 season will include a player option, allowing Porzingis to decide whether to remain with the team for the final year of the agreement.

The Latvian big man spent the first half of last NBA season with the Atlanta Hawks before being traded to Golden State in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga. In his 15 games for the Warriors, he averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks, shooting 43.3% from the field.

Porzingis's return provides the Warriors with significant firepower as they aim for a strong 2026/27 season. His versatile skill set as a stretch big and his imposing presence in the paint will be crucial for the team's championship aspirations alongside Steph Curry.

Meanwhile, other key players are also finalizing their futures with the club. Al Horford declined his $6 million player option for the upcoming season to sign a new two-year, $14 million deal with the Warriors.

Draymond Green also opted out of his $27.7 million player option for the 2026/27 season. This move provides the 'Dubs' with financial flexibility as they reportedly pursue star talents like LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
