Robbie Waller Returns to the Wrestling Mat.
On Wednesday, Real American Freestyle (RAF) announced that Waller will make his organizational debut, facing former UFC Middleweight Champion Khamzat Chimaev in a catchweight bout at RAF 14 next month.
Before transitioning to mixed martial arts, the UFC Hall of Famer was a high school state wrestling champion in Bettendorf, Iowa, but never competed in the sport after that. This will be the first competition for the 44-year-old former UFC Welterweight Champion since retiring from MMA in 2023 after a knockout victory over Niko Price at UFC 290.
Chimaev, a three-time Swedish national wrestling champion, began competing in RAF this summer after losing the UFC Middleweight title to Sean Strickland at UFC 328. “The Wolf” holds a 2-0 record in RAF, with both victories coming by pinfall against Dillon Danis and Tyron Woodley.
The RAF 14 event is scheduled for October 23rd at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, with the main event featuring an RAF title fight between Arman Tsarukyan and Dillon Danis.
