The championship belt is no longer the top priority for Khamzat Chimaev—his sole focus is locking horns with Sean Strickland once again.
Back in May, Strickland handed the Chechen-born fighter the first defeat of his professional career, taking a split-decision victory in the UFC 328 main event to capture the middleweight crown. Ever since, "Borz" has relentlessly lobbied for a rematch. However, with Nassourdine Imavov seemingly next in line for a title shot and no official matchup confirmed, Chimaev has been left waiting in the wings.
Frustrated by the stalemate, Chimaev has suggested settling the feud outside the Octagon. On Monday, he tabled a direct financial incentive to the American in an attempt to lure him into a clash.
"I'll pay you one million dollars. Send me the location and let's fight—I don't care if it's inside the cage or outside."
The pair shared a notoriously bitter rivalry leading up to UFC 328, though tensions briefly cooled after the final horn. Recently, however, their war of words has reignited through the media. While Strickland has yet to issue a response to the latest proposition, given their history, a fiery reaction is likely only a matter of time.
