Manchester City kick off contract talks with Nigerian forward
Iheanacho has become a regular for City’s first since he gain promotion at the end of the season.
The 19-year-old has made a total of 26 appearances in all competitions scoring nine goals.
It seems incoming coach Pep Guardiola wants the forward to be part of his team as City have offered him a new contract.
“Manchester City have offered Kelechi a new contract and now discussions are going on in this respect,” a top source told African Football.
There were reports that Manchester City put hold on the contract talk of with Iheanacho over the disagreements between two agents representing him.
Iheanacho is currently caught in a war between two agents who are fighting over the ownership of the youngster.
The tussle however did not affect the forward’s contract talks with City according to top sources of African Football.
“It’s not true that these talks were held up by the issue who should now represent him. That matter is before the FA and it will soon be resolved,” the source said.
According to Daily Sun, Iheanacho who is signed to First Eleven, a management company also put pen to paper in agreement with another Madrid bases outfit which manages Welsh star, Gareth Bale.
First Eleven are now threatening to take the Madrid based management firm to court for trying to snatch their client.
