Canada international striker Jonathan David is thriving at Atletico Madrid, where he is currently on loan from Juventus this season. The former Lille forward has already netted three goals for the Spanish side in La Liga victories against Real Madrid (2-1), Osasuna (4-0), and Real Sociedad (3-0). The 26-year-old was keen for a change of scenery and eager to move on from Juventus following the summer transfer window.
"It's been a breath of fresh air. Maybe it also helps that the environment is slightly different. I'm playing alongside players who have the vision to provide the decisive final pass. To be honest, they make things very easy for me. All I need to do is finish the chances," said Canada's all-time top scorer, who has 43 international goals to his name.
Canada head coach Jesse Marsch also played a crucial role in brokering the move from Juventus to the Rojiblancos. "I know [Atletico manager Diego Simeone] from coaching against him and watching him over the years. I told Simeone that if Atletico Madrid were looking for an attacking player who scores goals, possesses top quality, works hard for the team, and leaves everything on the pitch, I couldn't think of a better striker than Jonathan David," Marsch revealed.
