Utaka played for Ismaily between 1999-2001 before leaving to play for the likes of Lens, Rennes, Portsmouth and Montpellier.

He enjoyed a successful period with Ismaily winning the Egypt Cup and emerging as league top scorer.

The 34-year-old last played for Sivasspor in Turkey but is now a free agent after his contract expired.

Confirming his move to Ismaily, the forward said the signing is 99% complete.

“I’m currently in Nigeria but will head to France before going to Egypt,” he told Complete Sports.

Utaka is set to become Ismaily’s second signing ahead of the new season after signing former Real Betis defender Amro Tarek.
