“To have a goalkeeper like him changed the mood in the dressing room. We felt like we’d bought a Rolls-Royce and the confidence level went through the roof,” the Nigerian midfielder told UK Sun.

“He’s hard working and just got straight down to business from day one.You would think he has been a part of the club for a couple of years.”

Obi also revealed that despite the way Hart was sent out of Manchester City, the goalkeeper does not want sympathy from anyone, “he just wanted to play football,” Obi said.

“Joe has quickly picked up basic Italian but he only talks about positives at Manchester City — nothing negative.

“He reflects on the great moments — winning titles, big games and derbies — and tells us funny stuff about his team-mates, leaving us in stitches.

“Some of our players try to wind him up by playing as City on PlayStation just to remind him it’s easier to score against him in a video game than in reality.”
