Canada's head coach, Jesse Marsch, didn't hide his disappointment after the 2-1 loss to Switzerland. However, he praised his players' effort and took full responsibility for the tactical outcome of the match, attributing the result to small, decisive moments.
"I know our team has heart, right? I know we have a group of guys who will give absolutely everything at every moment. And that's something we should be incredibly proud of. The issue simply comes down to managing the small moments. Even at the very start of the game, I felt we were a bit hesitant, not aggressive enough, and not sprinting enough," Marsch began.
"Let's focus on the positives. We'll focus on our reaction. Again, we saw good contributions from the guys who came off the bench," the coach added.
"The only thing I wish I had done differently was to switch to a five-man defense at halftime to really lock things down. And when the game unfolded that way after the break, I obviously regretted not doing it. I think I was obligated to do it," the American candidly admitted.
