A Colorado judge sentenced 27 year old James Eagan Holmes to 12 life sentences, plus 3,318 years

Judge Carlos A. Samour Jr. said "It is the court's intention that the defendant never set foot in free society again.”

Adding that "If there was ever a case that warranted a maximum sentence, this is the case. The defendant does not deserve any sympathy.”

The judge, after the sentencing, ordered the sheriff to take Holmes out of the courtroom.

Holmes killed killed 12 and wounded 70 people.
