Ismael Saibari's Mammoth Transfer Increasingly Likely: Over Fifty Million Euro Bid for PSV Star

The transfer frenzy surrounding Eredivisie sensation Ismael Saibari began even before the World Cup. The Moroccan midfielder from PSV hopes to shine with his national team in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, putting himself in the global spotlight. A transfer was anticipated after last season, but not this quickly. It now appears highly probable that he will sign with a new club soon, especially with Bayern Munich willing to spend a significant sum for the international.

PSV isn't letting go of last season's standout player without a fight. Saibari still has three years left on his contract and is a highly sought-after talent. Furthermore, the midfielder is 25 years old, entering the prime of his career. Bayern Munich is wasting no time, and according to De Telegraaf, they have already reached a preliminary agreement with the attacker. Not only that, but a substantial initial bid has also been tabled.

The price the German champions will have to pay is expected to be astronomical, at least from PSV's perspective. What would Saibari, who has consistently proven himself at the highest level for several seasons, truly be worth? PSV aims to break their transfer record and, according to the Algemeen Dagblad, is negotiating with Bayern over a bid of 53 million euros, including bonuses. PSV is holding out for an even higher figure.

PSV's current transfer record is held by Hirving Lozano, who departed for Napoli seven years ago for approximately fifty million euros. The Eindhoven club hopes to secure an even larger sum for Saibari.

The Eredivisie's overall transfer record still belongs to Ajax, who sold Brazilian Antony to Manchester United for a staggering 95 million euros in 2023, when Erik ten Hag was manager. Frenkie de Jong (86 million), Matthijs de Ligt (85.5 million), and Lisandro Martinez (57.3 million) also commanded higher fees than Lozano.

Saibari himself hopes to leave the Philips Stadium on the best possible terms. With the funds generated by the Moroccan international's transfer, PSV aims to immediately strengthen their squad. Kodai Sano from NEC, among others, is high on their wish list. The Brabant club is reportedly willing to pay around 15 million for him.

Given that Joey Veerman and Mauro Jr. might also be looking to leave, it's crucial for PSV to reinforce their squad as quickly as possible. Otherwise, the midfield depth, already impacted by captain Jerdy Schouten's long-term injury, will become critically thin.
