Government approves N777M for hospital, school equipment

Yobe Government on Wednesday approved over N679 million for supply and installation of equipment at newly rehabilitated Potiskum, Gashua and Giedam general hospitals.

The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Mala Musti, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the end of the state executive council meeting in Damaturu.

He said the council approved N1.8 billion in 2016 for rehabilitation and expansion of the hospitals to provide accessible and affordable healthcare to the people.

He added that “one of the cardinal objectives of the present administration is the provision of quality and affordable healthcare to the common Yobe man.”

Musti said the state’s executive council also approved N97.7 million for the purchase of laboratory equipment, tools and reagents for five newly rehabilitated secondary schools.

He noted that the state government had rehabilitated five secondary schools “so that students could learn in conducive environment.”

He explained that the benefiting schools included government secondary schools in Nangere, Fika, Yunusari, GwioKura-Kura and Government Girls Secondary School Nguru.
