Government launches biggest digital library in the world
According to various media reports, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has launched the largest digital library in the world to be called the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB).
The EKB is a new project by the Egyptian government designed for the development of a civilized and properly educated society via all kinds of human sciences available to all Egyptian citizens.
According to statement by Ahmed Maher, spokesperson of the Egyptian Embassy in Nigeria, the EKB “is touted as the biggest digital library in the world, hosting content from prominent publishing houses from across the globe such as Oxford, National Geographic, Reuters and more.
“The EKB contains scientific courses in all fields of information like electronic books and magazines, educational syllabus for schools and universities, databases, browsers, digital libraries for videos and pictures along with computer programmes in the field of sports and more.
“This EKB is designed in a way that all factions of society with various specialisations and interests and ages should benefit from in order to develop scientific research for researchers, human knowledge for youths, promote teaching methods for teachers and develop ways to attract students to learn.
“The EKB is Egypt’s spring to the path of progress and global competition in the age of science and information.”
The statement further revealed that the president declared 2016 as the year of the Egyptian youth during the launch of the EKB, which held at the Cairo Opera House, according to ThisDayLive.
