Dutch News describes this pedestrian traffic lights as 'gay'.

This is because they feature gay couples, this is to show support for the difference in sexuality.

City Council alderman, Kees Geldorf, shed light on the significance of these new traffic lights.

"They show Utrecht is a many-sided city. And they do give cause for reflection while you are waiting for the lights to change," he said.

Two women and two men can be seen holding hands in the traffic lights, which cost €1,200 each.
