Emmanuel, a young man in Congo Brazzaville, has left a life of violence and witchcraft for a better journey with Jesus Christ.

According to Christian Today, this incredible transformation was made possible with The Bible Society's Good Samaritan programme.

Emmanuel's troubles began when his mother, who had AIDS, became really sick. Thus, he was sent to an orphanage at age nine.

There, he got lured into a violent witchcraft gang. At his initiation, the Bible Society reports that he told to hold a venomous snake, chant strange prayers while gang members made him stronger by cutting his arms.

Once the initiation was over, he learnt to pickpocket, steal from street stalls, and drink. Emmanuel also become very violent as "he'd beat up anyone if they had a disagreement."

His story changed when he encountered the Good Samaritan programme, where young people are taught with Biblical parables and interactive workshops.

"The Good Samaritan showed me how to live differently. Now my life is very different.

I went to a pastor and talked to him about the things I had been doing. I started praying and reading my Bible. I want to tell young people like me to avoid bad things and to accept Jesus Christ. I have done bad things. I have stolen from people and hurt people. But now I respect people because of Jesus,"Emmanuel said.

The 16-year-old is now a mentor, helps out with chores at the orphanage, teaches football, and is studying hard to be an accountant.

Emmanuel has not completely abandoned his witchcraft gang as he now prays for them.

His story is a perfect example of what happens when we allow God to come into our lives.
