The Lakers defeated Golden State on opening night, but Luka Dončić stole the spotlight.

The Slovenian superstar fired up after some trash talk from a Warriors rookie—and then decided to take over.

Instead of focusing on his NBA debut, Lendeborg took aim at Dončić's antics during his post-game media session.

"There's a lot of flopping, baiting for fouls, and crying to the referees. It was an interesting first game for me... I used to have a ton of respect for him. I didn't watch too much NBA, but I saw highlights of him tearing opponents apart. But experiencing that live—the whining and complaining—made me lose all respect. It's not about getting a foul call; it's about complaining all game long. You got the whistle, congratulations, and then you get in my face like you just did something special? Come on, man, that's weak. It threw me off a bit because I held him in such high regard. Now that's completely gone." — Yaxel Lendeborg

Lendeborg also detailed the verbal altercation he had with Dončić during the second quarter.

"I told him he was trash. 'You're all talk, you can't score on me.' A few curse words slipped out, which got me a technical, but I wanted to get my point across. He just laughed and talked back over that single whistle. The only shot he made on me was that half-court bank shot. He put up 28 points on our team... I honestly thought about guarding him with my hands tied behind my back, and he'd probably still draw a foul."

Dončić wrapped up the contest with 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, shooting 7-of-18 from the field. In his league debut, Lendeborg recorded 12 points and three rebounds.
